To lead or not to lead?
The Dream of Identity
Standing up for what you believe in is scary. Standing rooted amidst disapproval is even more intense. Yet, you choose: Step up or stay small? And obviously, the answer can’t be the latter. It can, but what a boring life that must be. Look, you can choose comfort and stay in your bubble. But one day, you will jolt awake, and all will come to you instantly: What the fuck have I been doing until now?
You were born for the 21st century, placed onto the cusp of transforming consciousness, invited to participate in the r/evolution — and you’re still afraid to step up? I so understand you. But you know what I’ve come to realize is even scarier? Not daring, not leaping, not risking everything I have. And by everything, I mean everything, above all else, my ‘self-image’. That is the core fear. That ‘I’ could die, that there is no ‘me’, that ‘I’ have to let go of ‘myself’ and be somewhat okay with the uncertain, unmeasurable, invisible unknown. And then what?
Dissolve.
Paradoxically, only when we let go of wanting to be ‘someone’ can we be ‘everything’. Just like water that flows and never clings. Why not let go of how and where things ‘should’ be going? Why not let go of who we ‘think’ we are? We can’t control the external — who are we to know better than Life? We cannot drown. The river carries us if we let go of its banks. In being no one, there is nothing to lose or gain. What a relief. We are streaming consciousness, bursting Life, untamed wilderness. We are creation, ecstasy, bliss. We are the cutting edge of awareness embodied.
For a moment: Forget what you studied. Forget your career. Forget your goals. Who are you here to be? What are you here to express? The world of form might be intriguing, but it’s temporary, and all of it eventually leads back to the source, into the ocean, where you are not defined by labels, opinions, judgments, or even praise. There is no ‘you’, just being.
And so, can you let go of the river bank and let the current carry you wherever it needs you to be? Can you approach creation with the ease and flow of a child who loves to explore and play? Can you open your heart and trust?
